Faith Works
The Grade 5 and 6 children have been working on the Stations of the Cross. Goy and Simon have a different take on how they are acting and what they are doing in the play. Today they chatted with Mrs. Robb about the roles they are playing and what feelings they hope the audience will understand during the performance.
Goy: I am playing Mary, my acting part is me crying at the foot of the cross. I am hoping that I look really sad because my son is dying.
Simon: I am playing Simon, and I am Simon. I get pulled out of the crowd and get made to carry the cross for Jesus. I am sad and annoyed because I am being made to do this. I feel really sad for Jesus and I don't want to carry the cross that he is going to be killed on.
Both boys agreed they need to practice a bit more before next Tuesday when the play is on.
Palm Sunday - 28th March, 2021
Palm Sunday commemorates the entrance of Christ into Jerusalem (Matthew 21:1–9), when palm branches were placed in his path, before his arrest on Holy Thursday and his crucifixion on Good Friday.
Good Friday, the Friday before Easter, the day on which Christians annually observe the commemoration of the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ. From the early days of Christianity, Good Friday was observed as a day of sorrow, penance, and fasting. Good Friday is celebrated on Friday, April 2, 2021.
